Urban Paddle Ithaca Sat 6/29 UPDATE
As of this morning, 13 people are registered for this event and 4 more are tentative. Still watching the weather but it appears that tomorrow will be typical for this month; Showers early, probability dropping to 30% by launch time and giving over to widely scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon. We will meet as scheduled but divert to land activity as necessary to avoid lightning or heavy rain.
This will be a slow, easy, explore and smell the roses paddle. The tentative route is a 5.5 loop with an optional stop at Stewart Park. An extended lunch stop is planned at Steamboat Landing, which serves the Ithaca Farmers Market. Food will be available there if you prefer not to carry.
Don’t forget the basics; Boat, Paddle, PFD, Water Shoes and Whistle. Also, given the Humidity and UV Index for tomorrow, (Lots of) Water, Protective Clothing, Hat and Sunscreen!

Explore Ithaca from the inside out! An easy, flat water paddle beginning and ending at Wegman’s Parking Lot, adjacent to busy Rt 13 in Ithaca, NY. Remarkably, the quiet waterway changes quickly to a tree lined labyrinth of connected Cayuga lake tributaries including Six Mile Creek, Cascadia Creek, The Erie Canalway and Cayuga Inlet. Our route will be an optional, explore as we go adventure that may take us by many Downtown Ithaca Landmarks including Cass Park, Treman Marina State Park, Ithaca Farmers Market Park and Stewart Park on Cayuga Lake. A picnic lunch is planned along the way.
Novices, Guests and Families are encouraged and welcome. If you are a first time paddler with the ACKC, please call us prior to the trip for orientation.
